When you play poker you have to be able to bluff. What does it mean? It means that you win a pot with a worse game than your opponent.

There are 2 different types of bluffs: the total bluff and the semi bluff; the total bluff means that you are playing with nothing and if someone calls you, they would probably win. The semi bluff is when you have nothing but something can arrive on or before the river that would let you win.

So what are the important things to know about bluffing?

First thing: bluffing too often, your opponents will observe it and they will call you more often. Good thing to do is to bluff on different players and not to do it too many times on the same player.

Second thing to do: when you bluff, don’t change the way you play usually. If you usually raise a little bit when you have a good game, do it as well when you are bluffing; it will look more real.

Third things: Bluff when there is something important on the table like a big pot. Most of the good players bluff 2/3 of the pot to get a good return.

Something important is your position: if you are the last player to play, of course you have a great opportunity to observe the game of your adversaries. If no one raises or calls, you can do it but not too often remember.

The continuation bets:  that is the way to bluff during the flop. Your game is not so good but you raised at the pre-flop and someone called you. So what you have to do at this time it is just to raise more during the flop, raise on the raise of someone else, most of the time it will discourage your opponents and you will win through it.

At the river. If you raised and someone is raising more than you, the best thing to do it is just to fold, it means they have probably something better! You raised and someone called you! It can be dangerous too because they can have a better game than you. You have to observe what your opponents are doing because it is the way to win.

What is a nice call: your technical game is to raise a little bit when you have a good game. But, because you want to bluff and scare your opponent, you decide to raise a lot. If someone calls you on it and he has an average game. We call that a nice call.

So don’t hesitate to bluff when you are the last person to play and no one is raising but be careful about raising too much because it can be your weakness as well.

Good luck and train yourself. You can also practice on internet with online Poker for free.
